Community Cohesion

COMMUNITY COHESION

WHAT DO WE AIM TO ACHIEVE UNDER THE COMMUNITY COHESION STRAND?

Visoin: To create the platform to enable young people from diverse ethnic, religious and social backgrounds to interact, have fun and learn from one another.

BYEP seeks to inform and connect people from diverse backgrounds within the wider community. Through community cohesion projects, we aim to tackle pressing issues within the community such as racial and gender discrimination.

The BYEP community cohesion team aim to promote equality values among young people through fun and interactive social events. We strive to develop projects that will create the platform and attract the common interest of young people from diverse ethnic backgrounds, race, religion and social status to interact, have fun and learn from one another.

HOW WE AIM TO ACHIEVE THIS:

Under the community cohesion umbrella, BYEP plans to deliver a series of interactive social events based on a common interest for an inclusive community. Our first project which was an inspirational concert called Gloryfest at the Colston Hall, Bristol last year is a testament to what we aspire to achieve. Using music, dance, drama and poetry as a common interest in our society, Gloryfest 2010 attracted people from all walks of life to raise the awareness and inform people of prostate cancer.

This year, we are holding 2 major events under the community cohesion umbrella. This includes:

Gloryfest 2011

Gloryfest 2011 is a motivational and inspirational concert showcasing some of Bristol’s finest young talent in the art of music, dance and poetry, alongside professionals at the Colston Hall in September. The theme of the event is to raise the awareness and impacts of child abuse. Click here to find out more about how you can support this event.

Ask About Me

‘Ask About Me’ is an end of year networking event for like-minded people to informally meet, socialize and ultimately discuss the possibilities of a working relationship for the good of themselves and the community at large. ‘Ask About Me’ seeks to bring together a mix of young and old expertise, professionals, and potential entrepreneurs.
