EMPLOYABILITY

WHAT DO WE AIM TO ACHIEVE UNDER BYEP EMPLOYABILITY STRAND?

Vision: To engage and energize young underprivileged people in the area of employability and constantly seek new ways of overcoming the challenges preventing them realising the benefits of educational and career development.

BYEP consistently seek new and innovative ways to highlight the importance of educational and career development to young, underprivileged people and make it a fun and achievable journey.

The key to the success of our projects under ‘employability’ is to understand the challenges and barriers that young underprivileged people encounter in education and employment, liaise with them as well as expertise to design and deliver projects that help them overcome these challenges.

HOW WE AIM TO ACHIEVE THIS:

Within the next 5 years, BYEP plan to implement tailored programmes that are designed to complement ‘schools’ in our underprivileged communities. The aim of these well-researched and designed programmes will be to influence students in a way to encourage them to start to take responsibility for their performance in school. Our programme criteria will also ensure that all programmes reflect the practicalities of the outside world and use real life scenarios where possible to demonstrate our cause.

This year, BYEP will be pioneering their first project under ‘Employability’ which is:

BYEP CV & Interview Skills Workshop

The CV & Interview Skills workshop has been a product of our extensive research in the community. We engaged over 90 young people through a questionnaire to identify young people’s needs and ways to make this workshop fun and interactive. We also liaised with a number of local businesses and CV experts for practical hints and tips to help develop our reference handout. Click here for find out more.
